Bring Us Home

A Poem By Anna // 6/28/2008

We’re born into sin
Everyone's wicked
But we think nothing’s wrong
We don’t know we’re
Dying
without growing old

We may feel that we’re
In a meaningless life
But we push it away
We don’t let ourselves know we’re
Empty
without having been filled

The emptiness grows
And we try to avoid it
We fill ourselves up with all the wrong things
And we find ourselves
Bound
without being chained

We want to be free
To live our own lives
But the more we struggle, the tighter we’re bound
And we know we are
Trapped
without being caged

Everything’s hopeless
That’s what we feel
We just want to sleep until everything’s right
And we find ourselves
Lost
without leaving home

Jesus
Rescue us
We’re
Empty
Bound
Trapped
Lost
Dying
in sin
And we don’t know what to do.

Please
LORD
Bring us home.

No, that's not bad. It just means that no one has had the time. Or something like that. Anyhow, I commented. And I liked the poem too. It really shows how much we don't realize how much we need Him.

Hey Anna, I saw your poem

Hey Anna, I saw your poem the day you posted it and was starting to comment when I realized I had to be out the door in a minute and I wasn't ready. :0) Sorry!
So, I loved the poem. You did a good job portraying the longing of believers for a different world. I particularly liked the lines:
"And we find ourselves/Lost/Without leaving home."
Well done!

You're not the only one. My mom always tells me "Patience is a virtue" and I always finish it out with "A virtue I don't have." :0)

Oh yeah, and I thought I'd ask...Should I post any more of my story "Half-Blood" on here? I know the title always sounds weird, maybe people don't want to read it b/c of that...anyway, just thought I'd get your opinion! :0)

So far I've read all of your installments of Half-Blood, and I like it a lot, so you should definitely post more.
And I like your poem Anna, and I'm always impatient too =]
