The Nonsense Poet, 6-10

A Poem By Anna // 6/1/2009

6.
To keep yourself warm
You have one golden ember
How do you make it to April
When it’s only December?

7.
I am bringing a song to you, my love
It’s all I have to offer
I wanted to give you musical castles
Magical swords and wild sea butterflies
But all I have is a song.
Is it enough?
If I could catch the stars in a net
I’d present them to you, beloved
But you’d probably set them free
So the world could look at them again.
I’m bringing this song to you, dearest,
Hoping it will be more than a plaything
Hoping it will tease free the dreams in your head
Giving you freedom, and thoughts
That flow out your ears, and into your grasp.
I’ve read many books, but for some reason
I can’t read your eyes when they’re looking at me.
I dream about you
But I never know what you’ll say
Perhaps I dream just to see you when you’re gone
Even if you don’t say a word.
Perhaps when you set the stars free
Could we look at them together?
My song is all I can give you.
Is it enough?
Is it enough?

8.
Nobody trusts birds
Because birds aren’t Respecters of Fences
They soar over boundaries, singing of freedom,
Mocking your limits.

9.
I blocked the door up from the inside
Made the walls another foot wide
When they come with love-cloaked tricks
They won’t get past my door of bricks
Blocked the door up from the inside
Made the walls another foot wide
When they come with love-cloaked tricks
All they’ll find is a heart of bricks

10.
One little flower
Waits in the sun, waits in the wind
All its petals full, vibrant in color
Planted in fresh soil, by streams of water
And one little flower
Waits all alone
And all it wants is another
By its side.

Yup

I love it. They're connected, but not, and that's one thing that really makes them intriguing. When I read them, it's like you talking but also all these images you create going through my mind, like with the flower by the stream. Yup, I like these a lot.

Thank you! I wasn't really

Thank you! I wasn't really thinking about them connecting when I wrote them, because they were scattered over various times, but now that I think about it it's kind of weird that they turned out that way.

Number eight is funny, but

Number eight is funny, but the rest are kind of sad, in a beautiful way. They're all really good. Are you going to write more?

I have two or three more

I have two or three more left, yes. I know they're a little depressing... especially nine... but oh well. :)

These are very colorful....the images went dancing through my head as I read.

I never hope to see one.
But I can tell you anyhow;
I'd rather see than be one.

Is what I thought of these
