Little You

A Poem By Damaris Ann // 6/11/2017

Little boy with your cheeks so pink
And your eyes so blue
Tell me what's new with you?
Little one with your rocket high dreams
Laughter bubbling in streams
Oh I'll miss you, I'll miss you I will

Please
Stay little forever
I don't know what I would do
I would do without the little you
Oh, please
I'll remember forever
How your hand fits right in mine
How you smile every time
Oh little you

Little boy you have joy and you have care
Oh this happiness you share
Tell me, what's new with you?
Little one with your trucks and planes
And your cars and your trains
Oh I'll miss you, I'll miss you I will

So please
Stay little forever
I don't know what I would do
I would do without the little you
Oh, please
I'll remember forever
How your hand fits right in mine
How you smile every time
Oh little you

Little boy with your sideways hugs
Your mischievous shrugs
Tell me, what's new with you?
Little one with your books and your grins
And your trips to the fridge
Oh I'll miss you, I'll miss you I will

Please
Stay little forever
I don't know what I would do
I would do without the little you
Oh, please
I'll remember forever
How your hand fits right in mine
How you smile every time
Oh little you

Little boy with your cheeks so pink
And your eyes so blue
Oh I'll miss you, I'll miss you I will

I LOVE that you are playing

I LOVE that you are playing with song form now, Damaris! You're a natural. And as someone with little brothers, I understand these intense feelings. My favorite stanza was the trips to the fridge one!!

D'awwwwww thanks, Sarah! <3

D'awwwwww thanks, Sarah! <3 that means so much to me!!
Haha I think that's my favorite, too. My nephew often runs to the fridge, opens it, and points at something to ask "What's this?" He's so cute.

"It is the small temptations which undermine integrity unless we watch and pray and never think them too trivial to be resisted."
-Luisa May Alcott

I have felt this way so many

I have felt this way so many times with my little cousins and my best friend's nieces (they call me 'auntie' too sometimes and it's soooo adorable). I heard this little tune in my head that went with this so thank you for putting it in song form haha!
Damaris, your gift of poetry graces us more than you can imagine! Your talent is unbelievable and your writing is phenomenal! It catches the sentiment - the little bubble of unforgettable time - of a moment that seems so fleeting, so ordinary as a little boy going down a slide and creates a familiar but all the same profound perspective. It's bittersweet and a little piece of heaven, this poem! Thank you for sharing it!

"To live is to love with the passion of a thousand stars. To love is to live despite the pain of a thousand scars. Anything in between is a passing shadow." ~Michael Joseph Murano

Awwww

I love sentimental poetry in any form and song form just takes the cake. I felt all those emotions come back...the kind you realize when your little brother is suddenly taller than you and everyone pronounces their words correctly...Well done, well done :)

When I worship, I would rather my heart be without words than my words be without heart.

I totally totally get what

I totally totally get what you mean and I totally relate to this poem! So very lovely, I think you captured it perfectly.
