Wrecking Ball

A Poem By Elizabeth Anne // 11/7/2013

Even though
We talk about wrecking balls
We just don’t see
Quite what they wreck.

The wrecking ball works
Like the wrecking ball sounds.
A wrecking ball wrecks
Everything that you love.

When the wrecking ball hits,
It bursts through the wall
And leaves a hole
For the rain to get through.

The wrecking ball works
Like the wrecking ball sounds.
A wrecking ball wrecks
Everything that you love.

When the wrecking ball hits
It pounds through the bricks,
Sending them flying
In every direction.

The wrecking ball works
Like the wrecking ball sounds.
A wrecking ball wrecks
Everything that you love.

When the wrecking ball hits
It hurts all around
As the debris goes flying
And destroys all in range.

The wrecking ball works
Like the wrecking ball sounds.
A wrecking ball wrecks
Everything that you love.

So why use a wrecking ball?
Why live in pain?
Why blame the wall
When the wrecker makes the pain?

The wrecking ball works
Like the wrecking ball sounds.
A wrecking ball wrecks
Everything that you love.

Why do you seek to wreck a wall?
Is it really to get inside?
But why would you wreck
What’s meant for safety?

The wrecking ball works
Like the wrecking ball sounds.
A wrecking ball wrecks
Everything that you love.

So drop the wrecking ball,
Put down your weapons,
And knock on the door.
Perhaps it is then
That you will find
The safety of brick walls.
Perhaps you will find
Peace.
Away from the wrecking ball.

I have only heard the song once. I liked this poem, but I think the repetition just got a little too much. Just a little.
Loved the last stanza!

Goodbye? Oh no, please. Can’t we just go back to page one and start all over again?” – Winnie The Pooh

I haven't ever listened to

I haven't ever listened to the song. But though I don't exactly know what the poem is talking about, I still enjoyed reading it. I like your poetry.

I want to ask this in case you change your profile picture again. Did you draw that picture of that girl? If you did, WOW! I LOVE IT.

Maddi- I know what you mean.

Maddi- I know what you mean. Reading this again, the repetition is a bit more than too much. Can you tell I was very upset when I wrote this? :)

Lucy Anne- Don't watch it. :)
I'm glad you liked the poem though.
I did draw the picture. Thank you! :) It's one of my favorites. :)

See him with his books:
Tree beside the brooks,
Drinking at the root
Till the branch bear fruit.
See him with his pen:
Written line, and then,
Better thought preferred,
Deep from in the Word.
~John Piper

You SERIOUSLY drew it?! Wow!

You SERIOUSLY drew it?! Wow! I'm impressed. Is it a character of yours? Or someone random?

Hmm

Interesting poem, and LOVELY picture!!! I agree with Maddi, I found myself skipping those stanza's that had been repeated. So... but other than that, it's an emotional poem! Well done :D
