It is a personal pain for me to enter a bookstore. I look at bookstores as a microcosm of the incredible world we live in. Think about it, you have the wonderful glory of the Bible, the classics, the various wonders of pure and good literature. Then you have the sickness, an askew version of good, disguised under the cloak of the “intellectual”. What is sick and demented is held as representing what makes us “human”. It is not the store itself but some of the content that disgusts me. In a perfect world the bookstore would be one of the high holy places, but in the fallen creation in which we live it is contrary.
As I see it, myself being a Catholic (and thus a lunatic by the worlds standards), that a bookstore is truly a haven for the deceiver. Like all things, he (the devil mind you) twists good into what is contrary to it. Sexuality, religion, philosophy, art, everything beautiful is placed in his blender and whipped into a deformed version of truth that is meant to draw you from what is true. It is thus in the bookstore, where the thoughts of the human kind are represented, where you can truly glimpse the scum of hell (and yes I know I’m weird). The pornographic, the satanic, the lies, the deception, the pagan, and Godless.
But no section in these stores seems to bear so heavily upon my mind as the so called “children’s section”. Now it's not the Bobo Goes on a Trip type books I have issues with so just bear with me. Amongst the sickness and distortion that is in the other sections, the pornography, the satanic ideals, the blasphemous and cruel shamelessness, what should be a haven is troubled in other ways. For in the pure and fertile mind of a child, evil is being implanted. A seed of immorality which grows into indifference to sin. A child’s heart, meant to be pure, an icon of the glory of God, is poisoned by the deceiver through what is considered by our perverted culture as good. The occult, deceit, and such are all drilled into the innocent minds of children through the devil who hates them with a perverted passion. Witchcraft is the main problem I have with kids books (what a whacko!)... The devil doesn't want kids to know that; the Christian faith is the true, glorious, and wonderful religion conceived by the loving King who defeated darkness through the Cross and the occult is just the opposite, the untrue, selfish, painful, and demented anti-religion conceived by a perverted evil spirit who is intent on destroying your soul... Rather he wants them to like magic, his sick tool to get people to worship him under the guise of self help... It's in the Bible, look it up!
In what should be a pure children’s novel you can find things so contrary to morality. The saddest part is it’s not realized because it’s all sugar coated. Like a tiger trap, it has pretty little values for bait, it’s covered with the disguise of innocence just as a trap is covered, but underneath a gaping hole, poised and ready to engulf a child’s mind. Subtle infiltration. I am a self proclaimed Harry Potter and all it’s "cousins" hater. I often look like an maniac in front of people because I find so many faults in it. It is poison covered in sugar. Easy to digest and hard to get rid of. I speak from experience, I was wrapped up in one of those occultish (here he goes again!) fads. It’s subtlety conquers you and the next thing you know it’s got you by the neck. Do I really believe some of those “innocent” kid’s books about witchcraft are of the devil? Yes... Some... (Go ahead send me to an asylum!)... The occult and demonic have many forms they goes under. Anyone who thinks the devil isn’t intelligent should think again. The bad thing is that he is a master strategist and he doesn’t follow the rules. To those who believe in satan, congrats you foiled his best trick - he'd rather be invisible to you, more harm can be done that way! He’ll go for kids, anyone and anything he gets his claws on he pries apart...Intent on defiling God’s creation in any and every way. (A wonderful example of the devil’s sickness is presented in C.S. Lewis’ masterpiece, Perelandra.)
Fantasy in it’s glory is perhaps one of the most incredible forms of literature. In it we copy our glorious God, as we create just like Him. The wonder of a good fantasy novel is remarkable. Even Christ Himself in a way explored the genre through His parables. But, once again the devil twists good and the fantasy in our world becomes demented. What should be for the Glory of God, becomes solely for the glory of man, sin, and thus the demonic. It is in this section, “children’s fantasy” where my pains become almost unbearable. Because here, the devil is preying upon God’s innocent creation, the child. It’s almost like he has a free ticket to run rampant throughout this genre planting the seeds of sugar coated occult that grow into indifference towards the real thing. The irony is that we write and read it, yet it remains invisible. Why do kids know more about sin than God? Why do kids many Christian and Jewish kids know absolutely nothing about their Faith? Why do they think a man is telling the future from a crystal ball when they see a picture of the God the Father holding the earth? They know nothing because no one teaches them, because the mainstream culture presented to them daily says God isn’t cool and the devil is.
And so, as many have done before me, I had an idea. A Christian fantasy, somewhat like the wicked books in style but contrary in every way to them... And thus Christopher’s Locket begins, out of the disgust I have for the sickness contained in children’s books and out of love for my faith.
I'll post a little taste of, Christopher's Locket which (not witch!) hopefully will, God willing, work for the cause of morality soon. Go ahead call me a Jesus Freak!
