Compass

A Poem By Gina I. // 8/12/2017

Oh my child, the fight is won
But you are lost, and far from home
There is none to guide you on
Just the stars to be your compass

Though your heart may be torn
Sorrow wears, your faith is worn
With perseverance comes the morn
And the stars will be your compass

My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:8-9‬

I felt a Tolkien-esque narrative with this poem, kind of like 'May it Be' or something like that. It was bittersweet and peaceful as well as very sad. I loved its flow for being just two stanzas. I felt I read an entire night in a battlefield. Your poetry is always a joy to read! It has me feeling something or seeing something that I can't fully describe in prose.

"Evening news is where they begin with 'Good evening,' and then proceed to tell you why it isn’t."

"Oh, I'm sorry...did the middle of my sentence interrupt the beginning of yours?"
