Good Enough

A Poem By Hannah W. // 6/19/2009

I'm never afraid when I am with you,
nor when I have an audience
I'm always onstage,
the lights in my face,
never out of costume

But only I know about the times
standing alone in a library
looking at endless lists of names
and wondering,
how on earth will I ever be good enough
How on earth will I ever be
the voice, the chartalan of powerful words
of worlds I've never seen?

I can only pray that the man was right,
that all the world is a stage
becuase I can play this part
as long as I know my lines
But if the script is torn
and I am left to weather this storm alone
I don't know how long I can hold on

How will I ever measure up?
How on earth will my words ever be enough?
They sound so much like a child
every time I read them I feel so lost
I know their message, it's clearly there
and I have some hope in my heart
but discouragement makes me turn away,
makes me feel like I want to restart

I dare to hope this is just a rehearsal
that someday soon I won't be so scared
I still have time
it still might be all right
If I could just be good enough.

Percy swallowed.
"Yes, I was!"

Believe me, your more than

Believe me, your more than good enough. This is a good poem, and I like it. That's kind of like watching the news and feeling like "Oh, what's the point. They can't hear me! I'm an ameture writer, and will never be anything but! Even if I grow up to do something later, it won't help the now."

Yeah.....So, good poem.

Beautiful!

I really like this poem. Just beautiful. And if it's "good enough" to be beautiful, then it's got to be worth something. :)

"...Lord Emsworth made a dart for the door. Finding Beach in the way, he sprang nimbly to the right. The butler also moved to the right. Lord Emsworth dashed to the left. So did Beach. From above the mantelpiece the portrait of the sixth Earl looked own approvingly on these rhythmical maneuvers. He, too, had been fond of the minuet in his day.
