Starcrossed

A Poem By Heather Jones // 12/28/2018

My heart tries to light the fire of romance.
The night around me is bleak, and lonely—
I want someone to hold onto;
And every time you look at me,
Or ask me questions,
Or laugh at my jokes,
I feel my heart try harder.
But is this what love is supposed to be?
I spend so much effort putting flint to steel
That I’ve no time to look at the stars,
Glowing celestial overhead.
It is more tiring than I’d like to admit—
But I am just so tired of lonely,
So I try to find that one little spark
That might grow into a blazing warmth
And keep back the chill of the night.
But maybe real love doesn’t have to be desperate.
Perhaps I won’t have to light it at all—
God may reach down from his place in the stars
And strike an unquenchable match.
I will not have to worry or fear,
As we’ll be a match made in heaven;
The fire will grow bigger and brighter
Than ever before, and I?
I won’t have to do a thing,
But breathe, and smile, and look to the stars;
Glowing, celestial, overhead.

C.H. Spurgeon - "God’s mercy is so great that you may sooner drain the sea of its water, or deprive the sun of its light, or make space too narrow, than diminish the great mercy of God. "

Thank you!!

That makes me so happy to hear! :D
