Laugh it Off

A Poem By Madeline // 4/12/2014

I meant to say it with a laugh
Like a joke
Instead it catches in my eyes
And seizes in my throat
There's a clear film and a redness there
It's evidence so I
Try to breathe through it
I didn't know this bothered me
It's the way we are now
It's not like it's over or anything even close
It'll just take some
Getting used to
I'll nod and laugh it off
And then exploit that realization
Through poetry

You took my breath away with the way you expressed such... such... gah! How do I explain it? You expressed an explainable feeling! I loved, loved, loved this! I can definitely relate, honestly I think this is such a great poem because most everyone who reads this CAN relate to it in some way or other. Masterfully done!
