Rhymless Poetry 6

A Poem By Kassady // 4/20/2014

Mistakes
Nothing is more frightening,
Than the fear of making the same mistake twice.
Despite my vigilant guard,
I feel as if I'm slipping into a trap,
The same trap that was so hard to climb out of,
Have I ever really climbed out at all?
The question scares me,
Scares me more than I care to admit.

Pretense
I hate keeping my distance,
Because despite my stubborn resistance,
I want to know you better.

Drowned Out
Desperation never solved a problem,
Taking over mental thought,
And constipating logic.
My desperate desire,
For something outside my reach,
Defies all reason.
Acting solely off of emotions,
Everything I do and don't,
Becomes a sensitive subject.
Stability looses it's footing,
Slipping away,
Or flooded by gushing feelings,
Feelings which control my very actions.
Clear interpretations and meanings,
Haunt the muddy waters of my mind.
Muddled and confused,
The voice in the back of my head,
Whispers faintly,
Desperately,
Nearly drowned out,
Drowned by the beating of my heart,
And the rush of blood through my veins.

Late Night Poetry
Poetry flows and distracts,
Me from sleeping.
I could write,
All through the night,
But my heavy eyelids,
Protest against the poet;
The aspiring poet within,
Who refuses to stop,
Now that they've begun.

Titanic Anniversary
Though the past holds great sorrow,
And though the dead
Deserve to be remembered
I'd rather be happy now
Than linger on past griefs
Lingering won't bring them back
And the present is for the living
The past is the past,
Let it lie.

Pain
Do you ever look at my face,
And feel the way I do?
Do you ever ache,
Somewhere deep within your chest?
So deep even a flashlight searching,
Shining into the dark cavern of your heart,
Can't locate the pain.

Puzzle
Sometimes I feel more mixed up than a puzzle undone,
Lying in pieces on the floor,
Waiting to be put back together again.

Drifting
Finally I let go,
Drifting slowly,
Not falling quite yet.
I have a strong desire,
To say all the right words,
But I don't want to fall,
Too quickly,
So easily.

Honey
Sweet like honey,
Soothing and slow,
A smile stays stuck,
Sticking like honey to my lips,
As I think of you,
And your smooth words,
Words sweet as honey.

Charming
I thought I had it all under control,
But your charming comments are on a roll,
And I'm trying not to smile.

Whiplash
Neck hurts,
Back and forth,
My feelings give me whiplash.
Up and down,
They spin around,
Constantly taking it all in.
Frazzled and confused,
Trying to understand,
But the link between mind and heart has been severed.
The minute I know,
They change,
And I'm grasping for straws again.
Do I? Do I not?
Is it okay to feel?
How am I supposed to know which feelings are really real?
I'm tired of guessing,
Head hurts,
From trying to logically understand,
But it's impossible,
Neck hurts,
Up and down,
My feelings give me whiplash.

Yay! More poems!

It's awesome that you keep posting regularly :)

Mistakes: Yes, oh yes. I have been so afraid of that too. Gah, SO afraid. But take comfort, we rarely do make the mistake again.
Drowned Out: Love this! I love the word choice.
Titanic Anniversary was really really good. Loved it.

I love love LOVE these few lines from Drifting:

"But I don't want to fall,
Too quickly,
So easily."

Perfect!! And Charming is so sweet. Whiplash has great rhythm and lovely word choice to go with that too.

Goodbye? Oh no, please. Can’t we just go back to page one and start all over again?” – Winnie The Pooh

Thanks!

Thanks for your comments! They really encourage me to keep writing! I'm late in week 7, mostly because I'm going edititorless this time and I haven't found time to post... I'll post last weeks poetry sometime today!
Thanks again!
