Griffon Magic

A Poem By Kay J Fields // 3/27/2009

While I sleep
A sound comes
Whispering through my windows
Into my dreams
I wake and creep out
Into the fresh wet grass
I search through the trees
As the noise comes again
I follow until I find
A beast
Like a lion like an eagle sleeps
Each huge breath shakes
The earth beneath my feet
Two small faces appear
Lion faces
Eagle faces
Baby faces
The beast awakes
She watches me
I sit and watch her
She turns to the two
Her golden beak parts she purrs
She lifts her wings
I watch as silent as a shadow
Her cubs roll over one another
In infant play
They stop
She looks at me, settles to the ground
She growls
I stand and move away
She’s telling me it’s over
This night of fantasy
Back in my bed
My eyes close
I’ve seen them
And I Believe

Brother: Your character should drive a motorcycle.
Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!

Oh wow I like this. It's really mystical. I especially like "She's telling me it's over This night of fantasy" I don't know why, I just do. Great job, Kay, and welcome to Apricot Pie!
