God Does Exist

An Essay By Keri // 11/8/2008

The question “Does God exist” has been asked for millennia. My answer is yes, God does exist. There are those that say he doesn’t. To them I give these points.

You can’t see the wind but it’s there.
One may question the reality of God by saying that you can’t see him. Can you see wind? No, you can’t. Yet you can see and feel the evidence of wind. Trees bend, clouds rush by, and our hair blows about. It is the same with God. We see his handiwork, we see the result of prayers, we see “bad individuals turn their lives around after becoming a Christian, and we see the world that he made all around us and feel him deep in our marrow.

How could nature work so perfectly if it was made by a big bang?
When a baby is developing in the womb and cells are splitting and dividing, it is said that a great number of things should go wrong. Most children come into the world with all their cute little parts intact. When, on the rare occasion that something becomes amiss it is because something foreign has been added such as drugs, tobacco, birth control etc… that causes a wrong chemical reaction. In nature, one sees such complex patterns that creation, could not have burst forth form some primordial stew. Someone (God) must have created it. When Michelangelo painted the Sistine chapel he did not simply throw paint around. He contemplated and planned what he would make. So it is with God.

Outside sources have proven the accuracy of the Bible.
The historian, Josephus, writing about the events of his day, confirmed the prophecies that Jesus made. The Dead Sea Scrolls match the Old Testament showing that the Bible has not changed in spite of how many times it was copied by hand. Egyptian hieroglyphics go along with the account of the Hebrew’s stay and Exodus from Egypt.

The age old question “Does God exist?” has been around a very long time. As I stated before the answer, irrevocably, is yes.

.......

You make a very good point.....but the reason I am not religious is not that I can't see God, it's just that sience makes more sense to me. And you know, nature doesn't work perfectly all the time. Yes, most of the time it is something completely unnatural that us humans have done to mess it up, but that is not always the case. Not all animals are born correctly, and could their mothers be smoking or drinking? No. They could have gotten into something wrong, but that isn't likely with a horse or a cow, is it? That's just my point.
Hope this doesn't offend anyone.

What about science makes

What about science makes sense? It is all just guessing. None of what they say makes any sense at all. They say that alliens exsist, but God doesn't. Oh yeah, that makes a lot of sense. They talk about evolution like it is the only logical thing. Ha! What proof do they have of that? The only reason they (not you too, I hope) have a different idea, is because, if get rid of the of God, then you get rid of any laws and morals.

If you don't mind (or hate me by now) tell me what you think makes sense about science.

I don't hate you =D
It's not them trying to get rid of any laws and morals, they're trying to make sense of the earth's inner workings. Some scientists are actually Christians! I haven't heard them say directly that aliens exist, but it is possible that there could be life on other planets. I think that science is slightly more logical in many ways. I think that what many of you have heard about science is all the crazy rumors that aren't true. I think that saying that someone made this entire world in a week is a little over the top (I hope you don't hate me now). It makes much more sense for the world to be made what it is today over millions of years.

It's okay, I don't hate you

It's okay, I don't hate you either.

When you say that you think it's silly to say that God made the world in six days you are not remembering who you are talking about. This is God. You said "someone" made this earth, that someone was God. God can do anything, that is what makes him God. If this was created by an explosion of random stuff thrown together, then I have to ask: who made the random stuff?

And yes, there are Christian scientists, but either they are not the ones who are saying the crazy stuff, or they do not truly believe. I know that there are Christian scientists, because I do school with a book that is completely explained by them. These Christians study science with a view that God created these wonderful things.

There may be some scientists that do not wish to destroy morals, but the majority of scientists are the ones who say that you can kill babies that aren't even born yet. They want to make this murder legal. Many scientists would rather save the earth and animals, than save human beings. There is a reason that God made us to be able to think and talk, and have feeling and act on those feelings. Animals will not risk their lives to save all the other animals. The mothers may fight for their babies, but they will also kill other babies and even eat them. Do we, as humans, kill and eat other humans? Yet scientists would rather save the animals than save humans and unborn babies. If you fight against saving human life, than you fight against the laws and morals that God set down for his children.

actually science and God get along. read the Bible, and you'll see certain things. the Bible told us stuff that some scienciest didn't figure out until years later, and it lined correctly with the Bible.
if there is no God then life is meaningless, and we are just here by random chance, which means we are not created for a purpose. we are. we were created to praise God.
and since there is a hell and heaven, all unbelievers (and ppl who believe there isn't a God) will go to hell. and it'll be a baad place to go.

um...

and does matter 'how' the world was made, anyway? If God wanted to do in seven days, so be it. If he wanted to have a big bang, so be it. This is God, people. He could have (and did) whatever he thought was best. So it doesn't matter how. It matters why and it matters who. Which would be God. The end. (and the beginning)

.....

But why not save the animals? I mean honestly! My viewing of the scientists wanting to save the animals is, well, without the animals our ecosystem wouldn't function correctly and it would (over a span of years) crash. Us humans wouldn't be able to live. Honeybees are going extinct. Often people don't realize exactly how important these little bugs are. No bees = no honey. No bees = less pollenation. And less pollenation = BAD. Sure, we'd still have hummingbirds, wasps, butterflies, and many other creatures to pollenate, but one less pollenater makes the other pollenaters have to work harder to compensate, which won't end up well. So SAVE THE HONEYBEES!!!!
If anyone thinks we are better than animals and smarter than animals, how wrong you are. Think about dolphins. They are about as smart as humans. Think horses. They are so much more intuitive than humans. Think dogs. They are so much more trustworthy than humans. Just think about the animals around you.

And of course, the human mothers and babies are very important too! I don't want unborn babies to die either. I believe it to be absolutely horrible! But people are fighting to prevent that too. Let the scientists who are fighting for the animals do what they are doing.

Yes, yes, honybees are very

Yes, yes, honybees are very important, but don't worry about them. You can't go anywhere with seeing an honeybee. If your going to talk about saving animals, consider this: if a rancher or something had a wolf problem, which would be more important to do? Would you kill the wolf and save your cattle, or would you let the wolf live and destoy what you depend on for money because the wolf might go extinct?

How can you say that animals are on the same level with humans? Do animals now how to speak? Do animals have the wonderful relationships that humans have? Some animals are very smart, yes, but I do not agree that they are just as important as humans. This is one of the things that makes athiests so wrong (no offence). Even people in Africa, who have done no study on the matter, know that animals are not the same as humans (and don't say that they know nothing about it, because they are with animals all the time, and sometimes worship them).

I know it will have no affect on you to say that God talks about all this, but I believe what he said and he said, that all MEN are created equel.
Not animals and humans are created equelly.

!!!!!!

I'm sorry, but that made me really mad. Yes! Animals do have wonderful relationships. My horse has his best friend in his pasture. Everytime I turn him back out he and his friend meet in the pasture, breathe a long time into each other's nostrils and graze nose to nose.
Animals have their own languages, so yes! They do speak to each other. Most animals are extremely intelligent. They help us live. Like I said, without animals we would all die. Animals keep the world working. Animals and humans are equal (in my opinion). Every life has meaning. And there are other options besides killing the wolf. You could call a wildlife agency and have them take the wolf to an area where he can roam freely and ranchers wouldn't have to worry about their stock.

Oh good grief! So

Oh good grief! So appearently you've been watching Bambie a lot. Animals have other animals who they have attachments to, but no that does not mean the same thing that I mean and you know it (wow, I'm being mean, I'm sorry, but I think this is a little ridiculous).

The only thing that animals say to each other, is maybe warning them about something. And what I meant was, speaking in an intelligable way. We have has many people who have made wonderful speaches that have changed the world. Animals can't even think these speaches.

I will admit this: I have wondered how much animals do understand. My cat is very nice, and I love her very much. I had a dog (who I had to give away, because the poor thing didn't have enough space, she was rather large. I really miss her) who I loved and she was wonderful. I like animals, don't think I don't. But my dad has said before from looking throught the Bible, that an animal has a body and a soul, but they do not have a spirit. The spirit is what makes us better than the animals.

I don't know what else to say. No one can ever know how much animals understand, neither you nor I can dicide that either, so for the sake of peace, lets drop it.

(I'm sure I have said many things that may have been offensive to you or someone else. For this I am sorry)

hi

wow. we just acctually had a conversatino in the class that keri and i are in today about aborsions etc... here r some things wen ppl say that the 'thing' growing inside a woman isn't a baby or worth the living.
it might be called ontogeny :the development or developmental history of an individual organism.

it has resperation (may not breathe by itself but it exchanges of gasses)
movement (a mother will feel kicks etc...)
it eats
r these not things that humans do or need?
the baby is forming!
this is the definitinon of human :of, pertaining to, characteristic of, or having the nature of people: human frailty.
have u ever seen human beings bear anything but another human being? think... you were once that little seed, that grew into what you are now!
it may be weird to think of, but it's a living thing that grows into what you are now!
and HELLLOOOO!! can animals think like us humans? can they determine right and wrong?
can they be on a computer and know how to properly use it? can they make pepperoni pizza or mint chocolate chip ice cream?

o btw.
which scientific view do u believe about how the earth and living things were made?
evolution?
if you do. as u may've already heard our earth has intellegence and design! ok hmm. leme ask you a question.
can you read? yes
can you see? yes
can you feel things? (tho some may have a disorder most can) yes
now leme ask you something elses
did you make your body? no
did your parents make their own bodies? no
who did? (u may or may not believe that it was an organism)
well. GOd made it!
we have design!
do u know how many bones r in our body?
how many cells?
how we have different sences!
ok.

Priorities

Hey, listen people. God made animals, too, so even thouuh theyre not on the same level as humans, He puus in charge of the aimals to takeecare of/live with them. So they are important. It's just that we need to focus. We can't run around like (excuse the expression) chickens with our heads chopped off. Look around. I am not saying that animals don't have rights, we do need to help them and stuff, but if animals have rights, then why don't unborn children have rights? Why not both? Why do we put more into the things that are already here, that we can see, like the animals-- instead of putting our effort into saving helpless unborn babies? You and I are all expression our thoughts here-- but those babies cannot speak for themselves, they're helpless, and becuase they're not old enough to speak they're being denied their right to life! The right to just EXIST! Think if you were not here, if I were not here, if we had been denied those rights. God's creations, ALL OF THEM, are important. But think of those tiny masterpieces, so delicate and perfect and beautiful and tiny and precious, and then try to say they are not important.

So really, everyone here is right, in a way. We just need to get our priorities ironed out.

Oh yeah, and...

And I totally think animals have ways of expressing themselves, even f it's not as sophisticateas humans. But once again, we have to take care of some things (other humans!!!) first. So I can see what both sides are saying. Falling leaves, I am glad that you are passionate about soemthing, and that you are doing one of the jobs that we are supposed to do: which is take care of the earth God gave us. Now just take some of that energy and help people, too. We CAN do both, we just have to address these problems and take action.

Sure animals were very helpful and can still be for some.
they helped with wagons (horses)
food (deer, elk, chickens, turkeys, eggs, milk)
blind people -dogs
etc..
but animals aren't as important as humans!
it's not like they go to heaven or hell or atleast from wut we know. for heaven is for the followers of Christ. and hell is for the not followers. and animals don't know things like us.

I TOTALLY agree with Hannah W. (BTW, thanks). I know I probably shouldn't rave on and on about it but....Animals are probably more important than humans. Not all humans help the earth, and we definitely can't blame it on the animals.
Do animals pollute? No
Do animals murder because they don't like someone? No
Do animals do really anything absolutely dreadful that's not instinctual? NO
It's not nessicarily that animals are more important than people, but that we are all equal in our efforts to preserve the earth

um..

animals are not more important than humans. we're made in God's image, and are to be in charge of the earth. no, we are not all good stewards and don't take care of it as we should.
animals are not as smart as us so of course they don't pollute. if they knew how to make factories, etc that do pollute, well see, they'd pollute too.
no, animals just turn on their owners. like i heard of this dog that killed a kid for absolutely no reason, or another attacked its owner--and the dog had never given the owner a problem before.
ppl sin, duh, it's our nature. we are not perfect but neither are animals. nothing is perfect becuz of sin. only God is perfect, and we sure ain't Him.

Animals

Animals are necessary for the eco system.
We should protect them, to a certain extent.
They can communicate with each other and SOME are very smart.
But they are not on the same level as humans.
Sheep, for instance. You'll never see sheep on National Geographic. Sheep are so dumb it's not funny.
(It's not a compliment when God calls his children "the sheep of his pasture", haha.)
I don't mean to make people angry with this, so I'm sorry if I have.
This is the last thing I plan to say.

These are the only two basic

These are the only two basic choices that I can see:

1) God doesn't exist, which means that Natural Selection (stronger animals surviving over weaker ones) gave us the world we have today. In this case, we should allow the human species to do whatever it wants so as to continue Natural Selection. This includes killing weaker animals.

2) God does exist, which means that instead of speculating about animal value, we can just read what he has to say about it. In this case, we would find that we are to treat nature reverently, and care for our environment. However, we are allowed to eat meat.

BTW, did you all know that the machinery on some single cell organisms is more efficient and intricate than the best that humans have ever created? If I was walking along in the woods and found a sports car, I would assume that it had been designed by an intelligent being. Why, then, would I assume anything different in the case of a well-designed cell or animal?

My computer wasn't working

My computer wasn't working for a few days, and when I get this is what I find. "I'm very disappointed in you children" (it's a quote; laugh, you know hee hee).

Yeah so, I was reading through this unending list of comments, and I found myself shocked by some displays of (may I say) stupidity! What is it with you people (I won't say who) who think animals are living saints?!!! Do you ever watch of "The Learning Channles" (spoken in a radio car sales advertisement voice...deep echoes-echoes-echoes). It's reptiles riping each other to shredds! Oh horror! Lions, and tigers, and bears-oh my! Yes, these animals who you say are so kind and don't murder and whatever else you said are guilty of things that we would put in prision for (or death works to)!

That brings me to something else. If animals are the same or better than humans, why are they not tried for their crimes as humans are (that was kind of a long sentence)? The point is, that animals are never given awards for anything that involves a brain.

On the abortion thing, my mom got an e-mail that proves that unborn babies are still humans. The
e-mail (maybe you've heard of the story) showed pictures of a baby that was born to early and could fit in a man hand (like if you make an o with you're hand, the baby fit in that o). Now, how can scientists say that babies are not human beings until--whatever until they say it is. The rest of the story is, that the baby grows up and is perfectly fine, but that's not my point. My point is, that if scientist can be wrong on something so simple as this, what can we trust them on.

You guys said a lot, so if I've forgotten any important thing, I'll pick it up later.
