Girl of My Dreams

A Poem By Libby // 10/12/2017

I once had a dream,
And in it was you—
Child of my heart,
Girl of my dreams.
Sweet little sister,
Bright as the dawn,
Right from the start
You’re real, it seems.

Brown hair, brown eyes,
A miniature me,
Is it really you—
Right out of my dream?
So quiet with others,
So open with me,
I really love you,
We make a good team.

Together we laugh,
Together we talk,
Secrets we share,
Hugs given each day.
You were once mine,
Adopted sweet sister,
I think in despair
As you drift away.

I see you get older,
I’m mourning my loss,
My sister, my friend
Grows distant from me.
You and I,
We scarcely talk,
Is this the end?
Is there more to see?

I once had a dream,
And in it was you—
Child of my heart,
Girl of my dreams.
You’re real to me,
My heart aches for you.
You’re breaking my heart,
There’s no more, it seems.

So heart-felt and sad

Even though it's sad, there's also a sweetness in it, the description of the wonderful thing that once was. In many ways I can relate my own experience to it.

My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:8-9‬

Heartbreaking!

This is both sad and sweet. Your symmetry at the start and end was very well done and your rhyme scheme was beautiful.

Thank you. She'll always be

Thank you. She'll always be my little girl at heart.

“The gospel alone is the power of God unto salvation.
Therefore, suffer, yes. Be misunderstood, yes. Be shamed, yes. But do not be ashamed. For the joy set before you, take up your cross, follow Jesus, be shamed and despise the shame!” -- John Piper
