Goodbye

A Poem By Libby // 6/21/2017

When days are dead and skies are grey
When roads with dust are trodden down
When soil is hard as sunbaked clay
And once green grass is stiff and brown

When home is not but ash and dust
When children can no longer cry
When kindly friend has broken trust
And heart is now too tired to try

When mountain mist is turned to smoke
When clouds forever shade the earth
When dust that rises makes us choke
And child born is dead from birth

When once for all these things pass by
And all this world is brought to end
I’ll flee to better worlds on high—
That’s when I’ll say goodbye, my friend.

Libby, this is hauntingly

Libby, this is hauntingly beautiful. The second verse made me catch my breath. When kindly friend has broken trust ouch.
Well-written, dear, and very meaningful.

My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

You have such a command of rhythm, of language, and of vision. I feel your words; they resonate so fully, and it's really stunning. What a wonderful piece. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks. A lot of the time I hardly know what I'm writing about and just write the words that come to my head, so it's really encouraging to hear what you all have to say about my writings.

So chilling and alluring!

Bravo! You really captured a feeling of completion. It made me feel as though the world ended, or someone died. This poem resembled a peaceful, outward sigh, and I fell in the love the moment I read it.
Keep up the good work, Libby!
