Ice-Skating

A Poem By Lucy Anne // 5/2/2012

I don't know whether this really, really counts as poetry...but oh well!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You step on the ice gingerly
Onto unsolid ground
Ooh slippery
Foggy
Exhilarating
You grab the railing
Afraid to fall
Yet deep deep inside
Wanting to fall
To gain the feeling
You sigh wistfully
Why can’t I glide upon the ice
Naturally
With ease
Like them
Should I let go
Move my feet
Try to glide upon ice
Naturally
Like them
No, just take step by step
One by one
Slow as an ant
Yeah and show them you’re a
Sad sad case
You move your feet
Then you
G-L-I-D-E glide
A little
And I haven’t fallen…
...Yet
Slow slow
Progress
Yes, you’re a
Sad sad case
But I haven’t fallen…
…Yet
You give up
Let go
And take
One step
To the center
You fly to the middle
Air caressing your cheeks
Wisps of hair escaping
Exhilarating
Boy, I haven’t even fallen…
…Yet
Satisfaction is winning!
You call out to your friends
Come join me
Look, what fun
I’m skating
And I haven’t even fallen…
…Yet
They race towards you
Swiftly
Eagerly
To join hands
And they reach you
Panic
Crash
Thong
Bing
You’ve fallen
I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right. --The Book Thief
:D
ha ha...
This was not entirely MY experience with Ice-Skating two weeks ago but there was some wistful thinking, "Why can't I skate like them?" :D
Wow!
LOL! This was perfect. Are you serious? This is only the second poem youve done? I have a hard time believing it. You did such a great job conveying everything (though I haven't ice skated, LOL!)
Loved it!
