oh dear, it's spring already

A Poem By Maddi // 9/7/2015

It's here
It just popped round the corner
In truth, I wasn't prepared for it
But then,
I'm never much prepared for anything.

Because so many times
In the past madness of my life
It has felt like lifetimes since
I was just myself
Since I had time to be myself
Since I was at a peace of mind and not
Struggling with a million things buzzing
On my poor mind

Anyway, back to spring
Burst of flowers and all
There's something else in the air, too,
Not just germs and hayfever, mind you,
It's something else,
It's a burst,
A pop,
A sudden whirlwind of energy
That got stirred up inside of me
And somehow I have the feeling that it was
Inside of me all along
It just needed waking up
With a little blossom here
A little breath of wind there
And just a few little smirks
For you,
To spare.

MADDI!! :) You posted!

MADDI!! :) You posted! Yay!
While you are starting to relax, we are starting school officially again...;) Nice poem that describes your feelings!
Well, if you let us down, I let everyone else down even more. You've posted more recently than me.

"It is not the length of life, but the depth of life." Ralph Waldo Emerson

This part was

This part was perfection:

"There's something else in the air, too,
Not just germs and hayfever, mind you,
It's something else,
It's a burst,
A pop,
A sudden whirlwind of energy
That got stirred up inside of me"

I could actually feel a "pop" (that word delighted me) and a space open up inside of me as I read that! You really captured something extremely elusive about spring that I had never thought about before.

Hey Maddi, we missed you too.

Hey Maddi, we missed you too. : ) Even though I've had my break from school and am now completely engulfed in courses I confess I'm very excited about, I totally relate to that 'pop' into relaxation (and so non-academic adventurousness!) a Spring Break brings. You captured it nicely, although I am tempted to think those "few little smirks" you leave us with are aimed as us poor Americans, entering into both a chilly Fall and a new school year. :-P

Lovely poem!

The joy of comments! I relish

The joy of comments! I relish the feeling so much!
Thanks, Megan :) At least I feel better now :)
Sarah Bethany, I always get SO excited when I see you've read my things!!! Thanks! Oh, and I AM planning on reading What Colour on the Moon, it's rather long and I haven't found the time yet. Forgive till I do!
Thanks for the comment, Hannah! I've missed your insightful essays, to tell the truth :D Actually, the smirks weren't aimed at you...but I do feel sorry for you as all that can fill my mind at the moment is the fact that it is spring and I can finally not wear tons of clothing, yay!

Goodbye? Oh no, please. Can’t we just go back to page one and start all over again?” – Winnie The Pooh

Hey Maddi this was so refreshing! You really made me feel happy reading this, and I thought this part funny, "Not just germs and hayfever, mind you" hehe, just thinking about the coming hayfever is not fun.....
Keep writing I enjoy reading your work :)

I don’t thrive off of chaos: chaos thrives off of me.

You let me down? I think I'm the one who hasn't posted in forever; almost a year. Anyways, sorry, just saw this.
Nice poem! "But then, I'm never much prepared for anything." Sounds like my life! God is just giving me so much to do, but He gives the strength to complete it.
When I first saw the title I though, "Poem from ealier in the year?" I keep forgetting times different down there. :P
