new job

A poem by Christa | 1/15/2008

Continual chatter, crickets at night
Eating lunch
They wave – lions on an antelope
I’m the hyena, scavenging
Hello, hello, hello.

Expectations
the people buzz in my head
Busy bees flying to and fro
Going over and over
The same flowers
I wade through chaos, trudging
Try, try, try.

Just give me numbers
And questions
And quiet
Breath deep
The world fluctuates
Just beyond my sight
Let loose the stress
The expectations
The grudging
Escape, escape, escape.

Into the crickets
Chirping at night
