From Far away

A Poem By Micheala // 1/25/2011

From Far away the desert calls

its voice like rain

"OH come back Mary o'graidha,

Back to the whispering plains

back to where the wind howls and the wolf crys

come back to Delmaria

come back to me

cried a wind as dry as souls

parched, dead, dry

return, return,

to me

Quick write

I wrote this in a very short time without a plan. So what do ya think?

BY the way it is dedicated to my friend Mary.

Ps.  Being as I wrote it in a hurry I wonder what do you think it is about?

I like it, especially the way

I like it, especially the way you broke up a couple of the lines, but I have to confess I do not understand it at all. It seems to be to an Irish woman, but it's calling her back to the desert, and then it...well, I'm confuzed. What is it about?

Epic or Saga

Glad you like it

After having thought on it a bit I think it is the first in an epic or a saga.

Welcome to AP!

Glad to finally see you on here! Love the poem, too. The rhythm and tone are lovely. As far as what it's about, the word "Delmaria" tells me it's from your NaNo, but as far as the actual meaning and setting... eh, not so sure.

Brother: Your character should drive a motorcycle.
Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!

I just may have it be about a Velgorth but I haven't decied yet however there will be one in the story eventualy. It might have something to do with my character Jara.  It feels a bit strange though that Lord Salmalinzink Hasn't snuck in yet but give him time.
