i would say

A Poem By Raine // 2/9/2015

i would say

i would say that this house is
too chilled in the winter air
and that i'd really just prefer
a really strong cup of coffee

but i'll take the tea all the same

i would say that you never
really told me why you picked
up your things and left
without any words

but i wouldn't understand anyway

i would say that this line is
taking too long--do you really
need to get that five cent
discount on hot dogs?

but it wouldn't accelerate the process

i would say that people
who believe in God
are plagued by severe doubts
that never seem to settle

but i don't need to remember the doubt

i would say that the city lights
remind me of the sunset
that first night we talked about
God and love and second hand smoke

but it wouldn't be true

i would say that its been
great to be here these last three
years and its only been an
experience i will always remember

but i don't think you'd believe me

i would say that if there was
anything left to believe in
its the moment you first
looked at the stars and felt God

but you already know that

I love the lines --

-- "i would say that if there was
anything left to believe in
its the moment you first
looked at the stars and felt God"

Definitely a lot of heart in this, and I can feel the sadness of slow partings.

I agree with Sara Bethany! I

I agree with Sarah Bethany! I couldn't quite think of the right way to articulate what I felt from this, and that was it! A really beautiful, bittersweet poem, with the tiniest hint of whimsy. One of my favorites of yours! Thank you for sharing!

everything was better when/you would call and I'd be like/yeah babe, no way

"great to be here these last

"great to be here these last three/years and its only been an/experience i will always remember" this is probably the most striking lines for me, I love that word, "only" it's so... Chilling. This is what Homey said, bittersweet and I really felt the beauty in it. I liked it, a lot.
