Say My Name

A Poem By The Lovely Blue // 1/27/2012

 Say my name

Say my name

And you will hear the hopes

And dreams

Of two lovers

Dreaming of the future

Say my name

And you will hear

The hybrid of two

Ideas that blossomed

And entwined

Say my name

And you will hear the scourge

Of the ones

Who tear and shred

My spirit

Say my name

And you will hear the sound

Of tears falling

On the ratty pages

Of an old book

Say my name

And you will hear the agony

Of pain and sorrow

Of hopes and dreams

Of a little girl

Say my name

And you will notice the sound

Of approval from

Teachers and friends

Built up over a lifetime

Say my name

And you are telling me

That I exist and

That you know I

Am here

Say my name

And you will learn

That behind the face

Is a heart

A heart of parchment and ink

Stained black, blue and red

Stitched together with thread

That threatened to snap

But somehow held together

With its fragile fibers

Of gossamer hope

A heart of bars and notes

Dancing scribbles

Building crescendo

bold and Forte

Meek and pianissimo

But riding on the wings

Of fluttering hope

Oh, if you would but say my name

If you would only ask me

I could tell you so much

But there are other names on your mind

Want, need, desire

Things that you crave

Things that you lust after

With shameless devotion

So go and call out their names

Fool

See if they care enough about

You

Call their names and see if they

THIS IS AMAZING.

This is one of the best poems I have read for ages. (Btw, I have a really boring poetry book for school atm...) It is so FULL of feeling and meaning. I was IN your poem.

:)

I read this before, but now, after reading it again, decide to comment.

This is really good; I don't think I could ever write a poem so well-written and smart like this.

I especially love the stanza that Maddi pointed out and the whole stanza after it talking about music. Building crescendo, bold and Forte, Meek and pianissimo - I love it whenever these musical terms are anywhere but the ordinary - a music book.

Good job!

Ditto to both Maddi and Lucy Anne. I loved those lines. They stuck out wonderfully and just... ugh! my mouth is still hanging open as I type this comment out!

Welcome to AP! I'm not on here much, but I might be on more to keep updated with your poetry! This is really, really, really exceptional!
Thanks for sharing this! This is really good! Great!
