I don't know what it is but lately cats have just been drawn to me, like i have been letting out an I-Love-Cats aura. Cats that have never paid attention to me before are running after me to get my attention. I feel like a celebrity. But the other day one of my fans went a little over the edge. Now let me explain.
The past few days my sister and i have been going on walks and i always stop and say hi to every cat on our route. When Stephanie (that is my sisters name) and I got to the end of our route and turned around to go back home a cat came frolicking over to us. As it got closer i noticed it was a little black kitten. My heart melted on the spot. Now who could resist petting a kitten that ran up to you and so obviously begged for attention. So of course i pet it! Its not a crime or anything! Then Stephanie and i continued on our way back home. But guess who decided to tag along. You guessed it, the adorable black kitten. Every now and then Stephanie and i would glance behind us and there was the kitten, padding along steadily, sometimes running to catch up. When we got to our road and turned onto it i was almost sure it would stop following us, but halfway up the road the kitten was still following us. So now the kitten was a good ways away from its home (wherever that was) and completely lost so what was i to do with it? Clearly i would have to take it home with me and ask for the parents' advice. The very second i picked up the kitten it started purring. Nothing makes me happier than a cat (especially a kitten) that is so happy just to be held by me. My own cat doesn't even like me that much!
It was the funniest thing, the look on my parents and my (other) sister's face when i opened the door to my house and stepped inside with a kitten in my arms. Stephanie immediately said,
"I had nothing to do with it." and of course that got everyone's attention so they all stared rather angrily at me and my mom said right off the bat,
"Put it outside."
After explaining everything to my parents about how the kitten followed me home i was very promptly informed that i couldn't keep it. So after a few minutes of being very very happy, i climbed into my dads car with the kitten and he drove me to the place where Stephanie and i first saw the kitten and i let it go.
I have to admit that after a couple of days i am relieved that i haven't seen it since. I'm not really sure what i would do if it followed me home again!
Don't tell, but I would have let you keep it until we knew where it belonged... :) Posting "found adorable black kitten" fliers would be a must, but I would have let you take care of it until rightful owners appeared. But then, I'm a softy when it comes to cats - especially kittens. AND can you imagine the autistic meltdowns if we ever "dropped" a cat off somewhere! Much better to provide a good home until it can be returned... :)
Aww, how cute!
