I Love You

A Poem By Timothy // 5/23/2006

From the beginning
I loved you
I painted you a picture
And put you in it
And I loved you

You blackened my picture
Still I loved you
Darkness covered my picture
The darkness of lust
And I loved you

I sang you a song
For I loved you
To woo you back to me
You covered your ears
Yet, I loved you

I reached into your picture
I loved you
I painted joy for you
Even in the blackness
For I loved you

I painted you a road
I loved you
A road to lead out of blackness
But you did not walk it
Yet I loved you

I painted a darkened sky
For I loved you
For correction I let the blackness
Your blackness, cover you
I loved you

I sang my song again
I loved you
Your folly was great
Again you stopped your ears
Still I loved you

I reached into the canvas
I loved you
I let you cut me, and kill me
And turn the canvas red
For I loved you

My blood flowed on the canvas
I loved you
Even as I died
I saw the blackness fade
For I loved you

I sang my song
I loved you
A greater song I sang
And some listened
And I loved you

Forever, I sing my song
I love you
You have not listened
Yet I bleed and sing for you
I love you

Strange

In a way, I do find this poem very powerful in the sense that neglect can really do such harm. I'm not sure if I'm reading your poem the way you'd want your audience to, but I can almost feel it, taste it if will would let me. I'm not sure if I'd had this feeling depicted by your words in this physical world... but I do find it familiar.

Maybe I've erased it from my mind...
ironically neglecting the issue and pain that comes with it.

Explaining

Thank you for your comment on my poem "I Love You."

I'm not sure if you're understanding the point of the poem. In the poem, we as humans on Earth are the people in the painting. God is the painter who creates us and our world, then watches as we slowly destroy it. In the end, He himself enters the painting, allows himself to be killed, so that those in the painting can still live.

Hope that helps.

You have talent

I know that is such a stupid way to start a comment, but I am completely honest. You have a gift with poetry. Your poem really convicted me, seeing as how I was just sinning in thought. Thanks...keep it up.

I really don't think I could love anyone after that. But it was still a really good poem.
