Fury of the Storm

Fiction by Lynn | 5/26/2008

Definitely not one of my best pieces, but one of my favorites. A dream of a character from my 'baby story' (the one I work on consantly, but only let people read in pieces), inspired by a daydream of my own. It doesn't require much backstory, but if you'd like me to, I can give you a bit.

Anyway, enjoy.

What You Could Have Been

A poem by Ezra | 5/21/2008

A hall; a tall foreboding house of stone:
Set upon the lonely, stretching snow,
And there, by its rusty iron gate, I stood
With a tall, strange friend I did not know

“Come,” he spoke, and went on, through the gate;
I followed him, past quiet trees which stood
Like long dead sentries, menacing the path,
With blackened leaves and limbs of rotten wood

Reinterpretation of dreams

A poem by Christa | 3/5/2008

Where do daydreams
go when they retire?
Do they nap upon my feet
waiting until I stumble over them
disguised as a russian spy,
a princess bride,
a heroine of yesterday?

Ageless and timeless
the dreams do not wither
but as of yet remain
chubby-cheeked and cheerful.

Whereas I – jaded and thin and tired –
upon the eve of the end of a dream
find that the accomplishment

old dreams

A poem by Brianna | 2/11/2008

Footsteps gently fall
afraid to break the silence, shrouding
the noon sun in its blanket of
fading grey

This ruminating heart
wanders down its lonely path, visiting
the grave of long dead dreams
sleeping quietly

Ambivalent to awaken
these broken things so long asleep, and
reminiscing on these memories
lying still

The light that pours through open doors,

Soar

A poem by Emily-Smileygirl | 1/3/2008

Verse 1
Don’t hold back
You need to get it out
Don’t listen
Tell them that they can’t stop you from screaming and shouting
Don’t let them hold you back
Chorus 1: Feel the wind on your wings
Feel all those wonderful things
Feel that freedom in your soul
Feel that soon you’ll let go of control
You know what your wings are for
Not just to fly, but to soar

A Nightmare

A poem by Gregory | 7/2/2007

A nightmare
We did not know
What to do. It was
Like hell on earth,
But we were brave.
Many young souls
Were spared, young souls were lost,
but God was with us
And all the shouting
Was music to us!
BAGNG BOOM!
Was all that could
Be heard!
God is by our side.

Dreamland

A poem by Matthew | 6/6/2007

Sitting at my big computer
Hoping that things don't get duller
I close my eyes
And cross my hands
And enter my own dreamland

Trees that rise one-hundred feet tall
A thief scaling a castle wall
I'm over here
And around there
Everywhere in my dreamland

There are no lessons and no school
No smacking rods or useless rules
Just me and my
Own little self
Traveling in my dreamland
