So diligently, studiousness held sway
Eyebrows gathered in furrowed madness
As fingers typed away
Minds: straight and narrow the path
For determination was the way
The more tenacious gulped
Coffee turning gray
Gripping pens chaotically inking
Notes spread in vast array

Scholarship so fashionable,
So effortful the survey
Chickadees, coming to chatter,
Were promptly chased away

Mine, eternally true
What is me, has me
but, what is me?
My talents, my traits, my genes?
Or is it what I make of these 3?
Perhaps fortuitously,
time will tell.
