A Rugged Road

An essay by Velocity | 10/6/2007

I’m walking on a rugged road,
It’s so hard to keep going.

Storms won't stop coming my way,
I trip on a stone almost every day.

I fall to the left,
I fall to the right.

Only God is the one who continues my life.

Rain splashes on my face,
Snow makes my feet fail the pace.

I stop to rest,
I try and try to get up again.
I fail.

I’m starting to get sleepy.
But I must persevere.

Through the cold,
Through the rain.

Through the tears,
And the pain.

I MUST, I MUST PERSERVERE.

I get up, I walk,
I ask the Lord "LORD please give me all the strength I need."
I fall silent.

The rain suddenly stops.
Oh the Lord has done it.
I've been through a lot.
I've been through a beast,
I've been through the valley,
The valley of death.
I kept on going,
Because God kept on going on me.

I’m starting to believe again.
I’m starting to see.

I see ahead,
Upon the mountain.
Where I shall end this journey
Where I shall have only peace.
And joy,
And be in the presence,
Of the Lord God almighty,
In the presence of the ONE I don't deserve.
